I see kids using cell phones, ipods , and all sorts of digital paraphenalia. At a recent seminar I attended Panelist were speaking of the dawn of the creative age! I am not too sure even they understood what they were speaking about!
But I guarantee that the kids Do!

An update

For those knew to blogs. The latest post are at the top!

On Wednesday during The CBJC GAlA I was struct with the idea to create live interviews via audio blogs, a modern day web version of the "Roving reporter"
So I grabbed the cell phone and went to A few members of CBJC (Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium!) and got to "work" pressed th esend key and waited anxiously to hear them @ home.

Well I was bitterly disappointed , No Post, that night and the enext mornin, by then the sytoms of the flu, I had been fighting , won th ebattle, Disappointed, and tired I gave up, did not even open the eblogs, did not update the Jaz festival site.
Monday morning Time to get to work. There were 28 plus post. (I had only done seven)

So I politely closed the computer till I could muster up the courage to try and solve my dilemma. This mornig, a light bulb, I started at the earliest , copied the Html code for each new post I encountered, into a text editor and saved that file. I next deleted all post and reposted whereever I needed it.

An idea takes root!

I had planned to Blog the Jazz Of Fashion A-liners! The fashion event of the Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival. Mainly delayed Audio, Photo and Video... by the way we are trying to organize a video blog of our April 10th show! Check back by saturday 9th to see if we swung it!

Since I learnt to post audio via phone I have become a demon... Highjacking unsuspecting friends and colleagues for impromtu interviews. ( see interview with Ms Alma Carroll) widow Of Joe Carroll below. Fortunately Or unfortunately I have access to Brooklyn's Jazz musicians, Fashion designers and models, politician and community activist. I usually sit enthralled by their stories spellbound by their music, fascinated by their art.

If You're an Artist, a people person Brooklynthere is something great happening in Brooklyn! A rennaissance, of soughts, this is living History and Iam Part Of IT!

An experiment in Possibilities!

Unfortunately I am still a novice @ editing said audio! I thought twice about posting these but these moments can never be recaptured. As a compromise I decided that this, a personal Blog space is the best place for this!

I have been promised the soundtrack from the video recording! As soon as it is available I will work on uploading it to this blog as well as the CBJC Website, www.CBJC24.7p.com,

This is my attempt to blog with a cell phone, I'll let CBJC member and musician Ahmed Abdullah www.ahmedian.com do the honors of intro!

this is an audio post - click to play

these three were recorded via cell phone! I really had not planned on this but the music was out of this world. I just got inspired to try this. Now I'm searching for another way of instant reporting, improving the audio, searching for video and posting live FLICKR here I com!
And Yes, It still has to fit into an evening purse!

With a mission to;
Expand Existing Educational and Cultural Opportunities for Artistic Appreciation
To maximize the ability to attract scarce funding resources for the purpose of promoting educational and cultural enrichment opportunities for the public; particularly that segment of the population characterized as socially or economically disadvantaged. To seek efficient and meaningful ways to enhance and expand programming and performing venues for the public's enjoyment and understanding of jazz as a unique, American, art form.

Community Cultural/Tourist Promotion and Related Economic Development Activities
Working in conjunction with community-based not-for-profit organizations the Jazzpazazz Preservation Society seeks to complement its primary role by participating in related cultural enrichment activities including concert, production, hosting seminars and workshops and attracting tourists to Central Brooklyn . Additional benefits include implementation of joint public relations strategies and publication of promotional materials.

Broadening the understanding of what constitutes ‘Jazz” and the preservation of it’s legacy.
Jazzpazazz strives to play an major role in educating the Brooklyn community with respect to the cultural importance of jazz and its noted performers. What normally refers to the merely the musical form, was in fact a lifestyle that permeated from the 1920’s; Jazz is at least 100 yrs old (starting in the late 19th century)- Dance, Comedy Poetry, Art, Politics, Fashion. All were intwined in the day to day lifes of the people. In 2003 Jazzpazazzazz undertook to fully embrace this mission, with the Artist Mosaic project recently added, emphasisis has been placed on documenting this legacy from the people who lived it!.

Jazzpazazz, assisted by other local Brooklyn-based music organizations, has staged the Billie Holliday Jazz Festival as well as tributes to Eubie Blake and other noted Brooklyn based jazz musicians. Performances by former colleagues of "Lady Day" and other renowned musicians such as vocalists Jimmy Scott, Etta Jones, and Irene Reid, saxophonist Houston Person, and organist Gloria Coleman the Festivals have succeeded in providing meaningful cultural outlets for the citizens of Central Brooklyn and New York and fostering a greater public appreciation of jazz. This year Ms Alma Carrol celebrates 50 yrs in community service to the borough of Brooklyn.
